Pauline Caster, an evil murderer, posted disturbing tributes to her husband on Facebook, fully aware of her own malicious actions.
The mother of three was given a life sentence with a minimum of seven years and three months after admitting to the killing of Kevin Caster during her trial at Sheffield Crown Court.
At the court hearing, it was revealed that on October 19, 2021, Caster had assaulted her husband, and a witness heard her shouting “Are you hurting you b******?” and saw her “stamping down.” The CCTV footage showed that the attack lasted for approximately 20 minutes, but it wasn’t until around one hour and 40 minutes later that caster called the emergency services to High Hazel Crescent in Rotherham.
She kept on altering her story, informing her husband’s cousin that he had swallowed “many pills” and then declared he had gone to the bar and had been in a scuffle before correcting herself and saying: “No, he has overdosed and ingested a large number of epilepsy tablets.”
At first, Caster was not taken into custody due to the discovery of drugs near her husband’s corpse. The court heard that he had consumed a mixture of substances, including lamatrogine, a medication used to treat epilepsy, and the quantity of drugs taken would have been fatal had there not been an assault.
His cause of death was given as a combination of injuries and toxicity.
Caster’s marriage to her ex-soldier husband was characterized as “volatile” and “toxic”, and their son declared that the death of either one of them was “inevitable.” It was reported that both of them had an addiction to drugs and their son said: “If they were prescribed a week’s worth of medication on Monday, they would take it all in one day.”
Recorder of Sheffield Judge Jeremy Richardson KC said the amount of drugs taken by Kevin “would have killed him in any event” even if Caster had “done nothing.”
After caster’s passing, she shared heartfelt remembrances of her husband, even though she had been involved in a physical altercation with him prior to his death.
In June 2022, while sharing a Facebook post from someone else about Kevin’s death, Caster wrote: “OMG.” Someone replied: “Pauline I’m so sorry I didn’t know this. Lots of love to you and your family. Kev was a lovely guy. Take care sweetheart.”
On a post shared by one of the couple’s daughters late last year, Caster wrote: “Miss u hubby will love u forever.”
Caster will have to spend at least seven years and three months in prison before being considered for release by the Parole Board. if caster is allowed to leave, she will remain on probation for the remainder of her life.
As he sentenced Caster, Judge Richardson said: “You are never free of a life sentence if you are released on licence.”
